Who are we ?
A fun loving bunch of mountain Jews from all over the USA that believe a vibrant , spiritual Jewish community can exist in the mountains (without dues, pledges, fund raisers yada yada).
We are basically a Havurah on Steroids :-)
Where do we Meet ?
During the summers we have outdoor services in the available and beautiful public parks in Winter Park and Grand Lake. We also use our members home. In the Winter we use the historical building in Fraser. Maybe someday we will have our own Shul ?
Where do we come from:?
All over the USA. Some of us live in the high mountain country full-time and other come up here for the cool summers or the great skiing in the winter.
What affiliation?
No affiliation but we respect all the different segments of Judiasm.
How did we get started ?
Ken Parker, Claude and Claudia Diamond got together 25 years ago and said we need to organize something for the growing Jewish community. We had our first Shabbat service in front of Ken’s B&B in Fraser and a double rainbow appeared over Devils Thumb. A Mitzvah or a weather anomaly ? Regardless, we considered it a positive sign that we should continue to grow.
Where are we going ?
Where ever the group want’s to go. We now celebrate the Shabbat, The High Holidays (9000 ft up), Passover, Chanukah all the hits-all the time. We have done Baby Naming's, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, Weddings, House Blessings.
Our goal is to keep our wonderful religion alive and Meaningful in the glorious Rocky Mountains.
